Past IOSCO Training Programs (2019)
IOSCO Training Seminar on Financial Market Infrastructures (FMI), Madrid, Spain, 10-11 December – Registration Open
This training seminar will focus on the main characteristics of each FMI type, including Payments Systems (PSs), Central Counterparties (CCPs), Central Securities Depositories (CSDs), Securities Settlement Systems (SSSs), and Trade Repositories (TRs). The sessions will include detailed presentations with regard to FMIs and how the international standards on these matters - the Principles for Financial Market Infrastructures (PFMI) – apply to these categories. The sessions will envisage presentations of the applicable standards as well as discussions on practical examples and experiences on how some jurisdictions are implementing these standards.
Securities regulators are responsible for the oversight or regulation of most of the FMIs or share this responsibility with other financial authorities, depending on the legal and institutional framework of the respective jurisdiction. The training seminar is aimed at assisting IOSCO members to become familiar with the PFMI, support their understanding and knowledge of the applicable principles for each FMI type, and share experiences on how securities market authorities and FMIs are moving forward in the implementation and observance of the PFMI, in both developed and emerging market jurisdictions.
Staff responsible for the regulation, authorization, or supervision of FMIs, including staff participating in supervisory colleges or crisis managements groups for a particular FMI type or staff providing cooperation to local and overseas authorities for the supervision of FMIs are welcome to attend the training seminar. Deadline to register is December 2nd. For further details please visit the Members Area.
