In conjunction with IOSCO World Investor Week 2020, the webinar featured a discussion between Cathie Armour, Commissioner of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and José Alexandre Vasco, Director of the Office of Investor Protection and Assistance at the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) Brazil. Moderated by Dr Joanne Yoong, a Behavioural Economics expert from the University of Southern California and the National University of Singapore, the webinar covered the changing landscape of the retail market and investor behaviour in light of COVID-19, risks and challenges for retail investor protection and key regulatory measures taken in response to these risks.

The spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, deteriorating global economic outlook, falling commodity prices and volatile financial markets have created shocks globally, and within the Asia-Pacific region. There have been concerted efforts by policy makers and regulators globally to respond to the disruptions resulting from the macroeconomic impact of COVID-19 on the global economy.
The IOSCO Asia Pacific Hub is organising a series of webcasts relating to regulatory and other issues arising from COVID-19.
